DHI Hair Transplant
The DHI Hair Transplant technique has gained popularity as a modified version of the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant technique. It offers the advantage of simultaneous extraction and implantation procedures, providing a more efficient and precise hair transplantation experience.
In the DHI Hair Transplant method, hair follicles are harvested from the donor area using a microsurgical tool. Unlike the traditional FUE technique, where extracted grafts are stored before implantation, DHI Hair Transplant introduces the use of the CHOI Implanter. This pen-like device features a hollow needle, which enables the surgeon to implant the harvested hair follicles directly into the recipient site with precision.
The CHOI Implanter plays a crucial role in the DHI technique by providing the surgeon with better control over the angle, depth, and direction of hair implantation. This level of precision ensures that the transplanted hair blends seamlessly with the patient’s existing hair, resulting in a natural-looking hairline.
While the DHI Hair Transplant technique offers advantages in terms of the implantation process, it also presents certain challenges. One of the limitations is the need to limit the extraction of grafts. Due to the simultaneous extraction and implantation procedures, the time available for graft preservation is reduced compared to traditional FUE methods. This limitation requires the surgeon to be more strategic in choosing the number of grafts to be extracted, as excessive extraction may compromise the overall quality of results.
Furthermore, the density of the transplanted hair can be challenging with the DHI Hair Transplant technique. Achieving high density becomes more difficult due to the limited time available for implantation. This constraint may lead to suboptimal outcomes, potentially falling short of the patient’s expectations.
To overcome these challenges, it is crucial to select a skilled and experienced surgeon who specializes in the DHI technique. An experienced surgeon understands the intricacies of graft extraction and implantation, ensuring that the procedure is performed with precision and attention to detail.
Additionally, proper patient selection is essential for successful outcomes with the DHI Hair Transplant technique. The surgeon evaluates factors such as the patient’s hair characteristics, donor area availability, and expectations to determine if the DHI technique is the most suitable option. In cases where higher density or extensive transplantation is desired, alternative techniques may be recommended to achieve optimal results.
It is important for individuals considering a hair transplant to have realistic expectations and to engage in a thorough consultation with the surgeon. During the consultation, the surgeon will assess the patient’s hair loss pattern, discuss potential limitations of the DHI technique, and provide personalized recommendations based on the patient’s specific needs and goals.
Patient selection and careful planning are crucial for successful DHI hair transplants. The surgeon needs to assess the donor area’s capacity, the recipient site’s condition, and the patient’s specific goals to determine the feasibility and expected outcome of the procedure. Open communication between the patient and the surgeon is vital to set realistic expectations and ensure the best possible results.
While the DHI technique offers advantages such as immediate implantation and precise control over hair direction, it may not be suitable for every patient. Factors like donor area availability, hair characteristics, and the desired density need to be evaluated to determine the most appropriate technique for each individual.

What to expect on the day of the procedure?
Individual hair follicles are retrieved one by one from the donor area using a disposable tool with a diameter of 1 mm or less. Hair follicles are transplanted directly into the area suffering from hair loss using the CHOI Implanter, with a diameter of 1 mm or less, immediately after extraction. Before implantation, the doctor does not need to make any holes or slits. Since each graft is placed with complete control over depth, direction, and angle, it will produce 100 percent natural results with maximum visibility.
After the restoration is complete it shall take 5-6 days to heal and within 3 months you may see your entire heavy new hair.
