Best Hair Transplant Surgeon
in Delhi — An Honest Guide
By Dr. Arihant Surana · Medical Director, Monaris Skin & Hair Clinic · 22+ years in hair restoration
If you are reading this, you have probably already spent hours going through before-after photos, reading reviews and trying to figure out who to trust with something as personal as your hair. I want to help you cut through the noise — honestly, without any sales pressure — because choosing the wrong surgeon is a decision that is very difficult to undo.
I have been performing hair transplants in Delhi for over 22 years. I have done more than 3,500 procedures, trained under some of the world's best hair restoration specialists, and worked as Medical Director at Alviarmani USA — one of the most recognised hair transplant brands globally. I have seen what good work looks like, and I have spent a career trying to deliver it consistently.
This post is my honest attempt to answer the question patients ask me most often: how do you actually find the best hair transplant surgeon in Delhi?
What Makes a Great Hair Transplant Surgeon — And What Doesn't
Let me start with something most clinics won't tell you. The hair transplant industry in India has a serious quality problem. There are hundreds of clinics in Delhi alone — from hospital-grade surgical setups to rooms above shops — and the gap in quality between the best and the worst is enormous. A bad hair transplant can leave you with unnatural hairlines, visible scarring, poor density and graft wastage that permanently reduces your donor hair. These are not minor issues. They are permanent ones.
So what should you actually look for?
The surgeon's hands matter more than the clinic's branding. A beautiful reception area with glossy before-afters on the wall tells you nothing about the surgeon's technical skill. What matters is how many procedures they have personally performed, what techniques they use, and whether they are doing the actual work or delegating to technicians. In many large chain clinics, the "famous doctor" does the initial hairline design and then hands over to technicians for the extraction and implantation. This is not a full surgical procedure — it is a production line.
At Monaris, I perform or directly supervise every procedure. That is not a marketing line — it is how I have always worked and the reason I will never run 10 surgeries simultaneously the way some chains do.
FUE vs DHI vs AHT — Which Technique is Right for You?
Most patients come in asking for "FUE" because that is the term they have read about most. But FUE — Follicular Unit Extraction — is a harvesting technique, not a complete procedure. What matters equally is how the grafts are implanted. Let me explain the three techniques we use at Monaris and when each is appropriate.
FUE — Follicular Unit Extraction
Individual follicular units are extracted from the donor area using a micro-punch tool and then implanted into pre-made recipient sites. FUE leaves no linear scar — only tiny circular dots that are invisible once the hair grows back. It is the most widely used technique globally and appropriate for most patients. Recovery is 7 to 10 days for most people.
DHI — Direct Hair Implantation
DHI uses a specialised implanter pen — the Choi pen — that creates the recipient site and implants the graft simultaneously. This means the extracted follicles spend less time outside the body, potentially improving survival rates. DHI also allows more precise control over the angle, direction and depth of each graft — which is particularly valuable for hairline work where naturalness is critical. It takes longer and costs more but is my preferred technique for patients who prioritise maximum density and hairline precision.
AHT — Autologous Hair Transplant
AHT is the most advanced technique we offer at Monaris. It combines the extraction precision of FUE with enhanced graft preservation and implantation protocols — significantly improving the survival rate of transplanted follicles. For patients with fine or fragile hair, for repair procedures on previous bad transplants, or for patients requiring very high graft counts, AHT delivers consistently superior outcomes. It is not widely available — only a handful of surgeons in India perform it to the standard required for reliable results.
"The most important decision in a hair transplant is not which clinic you choose — it is which surgeon will be holding the instruments on the day."
— Dr. Arihant Surana, Medical Director, MonarisCelebrity Patients — When Public Figures Trust You With Their Hair
I don't usually lead with this because I believe results should speak for themselves. But patients often ask about it, so I will address it directly.
Several Indian international cricketers have trusted me with their hair restoration — and I am proud of the results we achieved for each of them. For a public figure whose appearance is scrutinised daily, the bar for "natural looking" is significantly higher than for someone who is not in the public eye. Every single follicle has to be placed at the right angle, the right depth, the right direction. There is no margin for an unnatural hairline or patchy density when you play in front of millions of people.

Ashutosh Sharma — the explosive Delhi Capitals batter who has become one of IPL's most talked-about young players — came to Monaris for his hair restoration. Look at the photos above. The hair looks completely natural. You cannot tell. That is precisely the point.
Harshal Patel — one of India's most experienced death bowlers — trusted us with his hair as well. The photo above, taken during Punjab Kings training, shows the scalp in full light from above. Dense, natural, uniform. Exactly what a well-executed hair transplant should look like in any lighting condition.
I share these not to show off, but to make a point about standards. These patients had access to any clinic in the world. They chose Monaris. That matters to me — not as a badge, but as a responsibility I take very seriously with every single patient who sits in my chair.
The Cost of FUE Hair Transplant in Delhi — What You Should Actually Expect to Pay
This is the question patients are most afraid to ask directly. Let me just answer it clearly.
Hair transplant pricing in India is almost always quoted per graft — meaning the total cost depends on how many follicular units need to be transplanted to achieve your desired density. A basic hairline restoration might require 1,500 to 2,000 grafts. A more significant baldness (Norwood Grade 4 or above) typically requires 3,000 to 5,000 grafts. Advanced cases may need 5,000 or more.
| Procedure | Grafts (approx) | Typical Cost Range Delhi |
|---|---|---|
| Hairline restoration (early stage) | 1,000 – 2,000 | ₹40,000 – ₹80,000 |
| Crown + hairline (Norwood 3-4) | 2,000 – 3,500 | ₹80,000 – ₹1,40,000 |
| Advanced baldness (Norwood 5-6) | 3,500 – 5,000+ | ₹1,20,000 – ₹2,00,000+ |
| Beard / eyebrow transplant | 500 – 1,500 | ₹30,000 – ₹80,000 |
| Repair of previous bad transplant | Varies | Assessed at consultation |
A few important caveats on these numbers. Be suspicious of any clinic quoting significantly below this range — extremely cheap hair transplants almost always involve untrained technicians, poor graft handling, or cutting corners on the surgical environment. The consequences of a bad transplant are permanent and costly to fix.
At Monaris, our pricing is transparent and discussed in full detail at your free first consultation. We will tell you exactly how many grafts you need, why, and what the total cost will be — before you commit to anything.
⚠ Red Flags to Watch Out For
Avoid any clinic that quotes a very low per-graft price without a consultation, guarantees specific graft survival percentages, has the "doctor" visible only at the start and end of surgery, cannot show you their own before-after results (not stock photos), or pressures you to book on the day. These are signs of a production-line clinic, not a surgical one.
Why South Delhi Patients Choose Monaris
Monaris Skin & Hair Clinic is on Ring Road in Defence Colony — right in the heart of South Delhi. We get patients from Greater Kailash, Hauz Khas, Saket, Lajpat Nagar, South Extension and as far as Gurgaon and Noida who specifically want to come here rather than go to one of the large chains in central Delhi.
The reason, consistently, is the same: they want to know exactly who is operating on them, they want a surgeon who will be personally accountable for the result, and they want the kind of detailed consultation that tells them honestly what is achievable and what is not — rather than a sales pitch designed to get them to book.
That is what we try to offer. We are not the biggest hair transplant clinic in Delhi. We don't do the highest volume. But the patients we do treat get the surgeon's full attention, every time.
