FUE Hair Transplant

Follicular Unit Extraction is also known as FUE.  An FUE procedure utilizes the latest hair transplant technology to achieve a permanent, natural-looking solution to hair loss. During this simple, one-day, outpatient procedure, Monaris’s experienced surgeon, Dr. Arihant Surana uses follicular unit grafts to recreate your hairline and growth pattern. Hair follicles are individually removed from a donor area of your scalp and transplanted to a thinning/bald area. Best of all, the donor area will heal in a few days, and there will be no linear scars or stitches. This technique is termed to be labor-intensive and is done exclusively by our surgeon Dr. Arihant Surana.

FUE hair transplant takes around 2-4 hours for fewer grafts. In any case, in the event that you are going through a mega session, it may take up to two days. Regardless, the procedure is known to be very viable and, subsequently, has a higher achievement rate.

What to expect on the day of the procedure?

During an FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplant surgery, the FUE hair transplant specialist initiates the procedure by shaving down both the transplant area and the donor area from which the follicles will be extracted. This ensures a clean and accessible surface for the surgery.

Under local anesthesia, the specialist utilizes a micro punch instrument to extract individual hair follicles from the donor area. The micro punch tool allows for precise extraction without causing significant damage to the surrounding tissues. This step is crucial as it determines the quality and viability of the grafts to be transplanted.

Following the extraction process, a series of minuscule entry points are created on the transplant area using a needle. These entry points serve as the channels through which the hair follicles will be implanted. The creation of these channels requires skill and precision from the specialist, as the angle and direction of the hair growth must be taken into consideration to achieve a natural-looking result. This stage is often considered the most intricate part of the FUE strategy.

Once the entry points are prepared, the FUE hair transplant specialist begins implanting the extracted hair follicles into these channels. Careful attention is given to ensure that the follicles are placed at the appropriate depth and angle to mimic the natural hair growth pattern of the patient. This meticulous process guarantees a natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing hairline.

After the transplantation is complete, the specialist cleans the treated area with a disinfectant solution to prevent infection. A bandage is then applied to protect the area and control any potential bleeding. The bandage also helps to keep the grafts in place and allows for undisturbed healing.

The healing process following an FUE hair transplant can vary depending on the number of grafts implanted and the extent of the treated area. Generally, the initial healing period involves the formation of scabs or crusts around the implanted follicles. These scabs typically fall off within one to two weeks post-surgery, revealing the newly transplanted hair.

It is essential to follow post-operative care instructions provided by the FUE hair transplant specialist. Patients are advised to avoid heavy physical exertion or strenuous activities for at least a week following the surgery. This allows the transplanted follicles to settle and reduces the risk of graft displacement or damage.

As the healing progresses, the transplanted hair follicles enter a resting phase known as the telogen phase. This phase may last for several weeks, during which the transplanted hair sheds. However, this shedding is normal and temporary, as the hair follicles will soon enter the anagen phase, where new hair growth begins.

Patience is crucial during the FUE hair transplant recovery process, as it takes time for the transplanted hair to grow and achieve full density. Most individuals start to see noticeable hair growth within three to six months after the procedure. The final results of an FUE hair transplant can be expected within one year, showcasing natural-looking hair that blends seamlessly with the existing hair.
